Precision Combustion, Inc. to be Honored as Tibbetts Award Winner

Precision Combustion, Inc. (PCI), a small business developing clean power solutions for gas turbines, fuel cell systems and Stirling engines is receiving a Tibbetts award. The Tibbetts award is awarded to small firms, projects, organizations and individuals judged to exemplify the very best in SBIR achievement.

North Haven, CT (PRWEB) September 25, 2006 -- Precision Combustion, Inc. (PCI) of North Haven, CT has been selected as one of the winners of the 2006 Tibbetts Awards. President Kevin Burns will receive the award on Sept. 26 at the Wyndham Washington, located at 1400 M Street NW in Washington, D.C.

Named for Roland Tibbetts—the person acknowledged as the father of the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program—these prestigious, national awards are made to those small firms, projects, organizations and individuals judged to exemplify the very best in SBIR achievement. Precision Combustion, Inc. is one of 55 companies in the U.S. to receive this award.

PCI is receiving the Tibbetts award for their results in developing clean power solutions utilizing catalytic technologies. Utilizing SBIR and commercialization partner support, PCI is currently developing catalytic combustors for power generation gas turbines with DOE support; catalytic downhole heat and steam generators for heavy oil production; fuel reforming and fuel processing technologies for fuel cell systems with Army Research Laboratory, Army TACOM, Office of Naval Research, NAVSEA and National Science Foundation support; and catalytic burners for Stirling engine battery chargers with DARPA and Army CERDEC support. This is PCI’s second Tibbetts award.
