Two International Academy of Hair Design Students Place in Hair Competition

Two students from the International Academy of Hair Design, 3350 N. Arizona Ave, Suite 4 in Chandler won second place in the Rolf’s Haute Hair Competition recently held at The Venue of Scottsdale. The students received runner up honors in the student component of the hair show.

Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) September 23, 2006 -- Two students from the International Academy of Hair Design, 3350 N. Arizona Ave, Suite 4 in Chandler won second place in the Rolf’s Haute Hair Competition recently held at The Venue of Scottsdale. The students received runner up honors in the student component of the hair show.

Danielle Courser, a recent graduate of IAHD received second place in the long hair competition with a fashionable updo. April McCauley, who is scheduled to graduate in December, received runner up in the Avante Garde category for fantasy styling.

“Rolf’s Haute Hair Competition has the reputation of being one of the hottest hair shows in the southwest and it is an opportunity for stylists and cosmetology students to really show off their creative talent,” said Jessica Wolman, one of the owners of IAHD in Chandler and Tempe. “For two of our students to receive runner up honors in two major categories is extremely exciting. We train our students to reach for the stars, and when you see them reach out and accomplish such great things so early on, you know they are headed for a great career in cosmetology.”

The contemporary, 6,500 square foot school in Chandler offers an upscale salon with the latest innovations in cosmetology and nail technology, classroom for theory and practical training, a clinic laboratory, a well-equipped student’s lounge, as well as a library of texts, publications, curricula, audio-visual equipment and aids, and industry- related journals.

IAHD also opened a $2 million, two-story, contemporary, 14,000 square foot school at 4812 S. Mill Ave. in Tempe. The 1600-hour cosmetology curriculum for both locations consists of: Theory of Cosmetology and Arizona Law; Haircutting; Shampooing; Hair Coloring; Hair Styling; Chemical Hair Restructuring; Lightening; Facials and Makeup; Massage; Nail Technology; Treatment of the Hair and Scalp; Electricity and Light Therapy; Creative Preference; Disinfection Procedures; as well as lectures and demonstrators on the uses of new products and tools of the trade. Graduates are eligible to apply for a license through the Arizona State of Cosmetology.

IAHD in Tempe is scheduled to open an Esthetician program before the end of 2006. Students in the Esthetician program will receive 600 hours of classroom and practical applications learning an array of spa facials and peels such as oxygen trio peels microdermabrasion, pumpkin peels anti-aging facials, chemical peels, glycolic exfoliation, seaweed with lactic acid and many more. The program also covers spa body treatments, spa packages and hair removal, as well as specialized training in daytime makeup application, bridal, fantasy makeup, photo shoots and corrective makeup.
