Celebrate Naperville’s Day of Vision with Stained Glass Window Tour
Four downtown Naperville churches collaborate on a free stained glass window tour to celebrate Naperville's 175th birthday.
Naperville, IL (PRWEB) September 24, 2006 -- Celebrate Naperville’s vision with a vision of beautiful stained glass windows. A unique part of Naperville’s final 175th birthday event is a Stained Glass Window Tour.
The free tour will be held on Saturday, Oct. 14 from noon to 4 p.m. in four different downtown Naperville locations. Locations include:
| | - First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, corner of Benton and Center streets
- Community United Methodist Church, 20 N. Center
- Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 36 N. Ellsworth
- Koten Chapel, North Central College
|
Visitors may start at any of the four locations; all are within easy walking distance. Each location will provide maps indicating the other participants.
Past, present and future come together through these windows. As we experience the heritage of Naperville’s religious beginnings, during the tour we find ourselves inspired by the rich colors and patterns of the windows and are encouraged to envision growing unity within our community of diverse faith backgrounds.
Chartered in 1833, First Congregational United Church of Christ is the oldest church in DuPage County. Members have been part of every major change in the surrounding area, be it abolition, railroads, civic duty, community development or social action. First Congregational Church will hold a number of events during 2006 to celebrate the church’s 100 years in its historic stone building at Benton and Center in downtown Naperville.
