Snakes Not on Planes at Midland Ontario's Wildlife Centre

Join snake and reptile expert Mat Johnson at Ontario's Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre North of Toronto in Midland- Southern Georgian Bay. More than 40 varieties of native snakes, lizards, turtles and frogs native to North America and a variety of reptiles and snakes from destinations around the world. Three shows daily on Saturday September 30 will provide visitors with both knowledge and respect for the snakes and the importance of snakes to our natural world.

Midland Ontario, Southern Georgian Bay (PRWEB) September 25, 2006 -- Join snake and reptile expert Mat Johnson with more than 40 varieties of native snakes, lizards, turtles and frogs native to North America and a variety of reptiles and snakes from destinations around the world. Three shows daily at the Wye Marsh Wildlefe Centre on Saturday September 30 will provide visitors with both knowledge and respect for the snakes and the importance of snakes to our natural world. Visitors will have the opportunity to get up close with the selection of snakes that are essential in a healthy eco-system.

Mat Johnson has more than 12 years experience in the reptile field with both indigenous reptiles and exotic, Mathew is very knowledgeable when it comes to dealing with both reptiles and amphibians. Most of his experience comes from direct hands on/fieldwork interaction with reptiles. Mathew has been presenting reptile awareness programs to various classes and groups in the area (4 years) trying to create an awareness and understanding in order to preserve and help with correcting various misunderstandings regarding reptiles.

Mathew has had input with townships regarding bylaws as a valued source for information regarding reptiles in captivity and the wild. In his spare time Mathew studies various snakes in an effort to understand as much as possible about them as there's always something new to learn. Mathew has also been captively breeding and keeping various reptiles. Visitors will see a variety of snakes frogs, lizards, and turtles such as:
Cornsnake, Pinesnake, Bullsnake, Ambergris Caye Dwarf Snake, Pacific Rattlesnake, Red Tailed Boa, Jungle Carpet Python.

The Southern Georgian Bay area is home to a number of snakes and reptiles. Many indigenous snakes are located on site for viewing by school groups and travelers who visit the Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre.

The presentations by Mat Johnson are intended to develop a deeper respect for snakes and remove phobias people may have about snakes. Visitors will be entertained and educated with Johnson’s shows. The show is included in the general admission price of $10.00. Special family pass available.

The Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre is located in Midland Ontario on the edge of Georgian Bay just 90 minutes north of Toronto. The Wye River meanders through the beautiful Wye Valley before reaching Georgian Bay and was a major canoe route for the Hurons First Nations and the Voyageurs as they navigated the water transportation routes since the early 1600’s. Wye Marsh is also home to one of the largest staging areas for the Trumpeter Swan in Eastern Canada. Fall is a spectacular time of year with a multitude of fall colors and activities for the family.
