AETN Selects InfoSource Learning To Provide Online Professional Development Courses And Teaching Resources To Educators Throughout Arkansas

Arkansas Department of Education offers school districts access How To Master free of charge.

WINTER PARK, Florida (PRWEB) September 27, 2006 -- InfoSource Learning is proud to announce that it was selected by the Arkansas Educational Television Network (AETN) to provide a state-wide online training solution for educators to improve digital literacy skills. In a joint effort, AETN, Arkansas Department of Education (ADE), and PBS Teacherline®, launched IDEAS, an online professional development resource for educators. IDEAS – Internet Delivered Education for Arkansas Schools – will be accessible to teachers throughout the state 24 hours a day, seven days a week, utilizing the Web-based How To Master Learning Management System platform provided by InfoSource Learning.

Recent Arkansas legislation requires that all employees of public schools complete 60 hours of approved professional development each year. Courses completed count toward these requirements and ADE funding allows AETN to offer IDEAS to every school district free of charge.

"Teachers not only teach as the experts in their core subjects, but also must design lessons to incorporate the ever-changing technological advances being made in our world today," Gov. Huckabee said. "It is imperative that we help teachers succeed in this challenge by redesigning professional development. The How To Master system, which this initiative has titled “Learn Now!” along with the internal capabilities of tracking and reporting, gives Arkansas IDEAS the platform to create, purchase, and incorporate a plethora of professional development courses.

For the 2006-2007 school year, 4,000 teachers are expected to take training, beginning in October. "Arkansas IDEAS offers a comprehensive suite of programs to meet many professional training needs and to help educators be successful in their classrooms and in their careers," AETN Education Director Kathleen Branton said. “Using the How To Master system is truly unlimited in what we can offer the educators of Arkansas,” Branton added.

Packaged with the robust How To Master Learning Management System and Content Authoring Tool (CAT), some of the courses that InfoSource Learning will provide to the program include computer software training in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, and others. In addition, courseware mapped directly to ISTE NETS-T standards is included to help school district meet rigorous state requirements. Content topics such as performance management, presentation skills, Internet uses, and integrating technology in the classroom are also offered as a part of job skills enhancement. Furthermore, there are courses that deal with personal issues such as managing stress and personal finances.
