Houston, Texas (PRWEB) September 28, 2006 -- Bernard Milstein, M.D., a leading cataract and refractive surgeon serving greater Houston, reports that cataract surgery and lens replacement surgery using the ReSTOR(R) Lens Implant at The Eye Clinic of Texas, has produced excellent clinical results and patient satisfaction. “After having now used the ReSTOR(R) Lens for more than 12 months, our cataract patients are telling us that their goal of being able to see at far and near without having to depend on glasses or corrective lenses after their cataract surgery has been achieved,” said Dr. Milstein.

The ReSTOR(R) Lens works by using a sophisticated lens design that incorporates apodized diffractive optics in order to create a multifocal lens effect allowing patients to have distance and near vision and thus minimizing or eliminating the need for bifocals or reading glasses after cataract surgery.

“Patients are quite happy with the results of their cataract surgery with ReSTOR(R) in that it gives them the ability to see at a range of distances and in most cases without the need for bifocals or reading glasses for ordinary activities. Having this convenience after cataract surgery is a real benefit for my patients,” said Dr. Milstein.

Dr. Milstein, one of the first eye surgeons to implant ReSTOR(R) in Texas, has implanted more than 124 ReSTOR(R) since its F.D.A. approval. Of those, over 97% are now able to read, drive and see objects at intermediate distances, without needing glasses or bifocals.

"For years my cataract surgery patients have enjoyed excellent vision with conventional monofocal lens implants, but today I am truly looking forward to the coming years of being able to provide hassle free vision without bifocals for my cataract patients," said Dr. Milstein.
