New Location, New Look: 50th Store Launches More Fun for Teens
Zany Brainy founders open Five Below's 50th concept store for the "Tween" shopper to Suburban Philadelphia.
Downingtown, PA (PRWEB) September 28, 2006 -- On September 29 at 3 p.m., Five Below will open its 50th store in the Brandywine Square Shopping Center, one that is more than double the size of their typical 4000 square foot store. Grand Opening weekend hoopla includes raffles, trivia contests, mascot appearances, 5 cent hot dogs, games and giveaways. On Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Q102’s Diego and the Q Unit will be on hand to spin tunes and to announce the winner of the PRESS (Promote Reading Excellence and School Spirit) Contest.
All middle and high schools in the Downingtown Area School district, in observance of “Library Card Sign Up Month,” competed in a contest to get friends, family, neighbors -- as many people as possible, to sign up for a Chester County Library card. Among the PRESS prizes are a supply of Vitaminwater for a special event and an assembly featuring Pat Croce, author of the upcoming release "Pirate Soul" and former Philadelphia 76ers owner.
“We chose Downingtown because it is known for its strong community base, as witnessed by the participation in the PRESS contest. And the large number of kids and families that typically love a Five Below,” expresses David Schlessinger, co-founder and executive chairman. The new location unveils a fresh design for future stores. It brings with it changes to the appearance and how merchandise is arranged. “This store features wider aisles and more checkouts. We've made it a much easier shopping experience by delineating merchandise in the 8 category worlds: sports, media, crafts, party, candy, room, style, now. We've grown all the 8 category worlds bigger to accommodate the demand for party, sports, candy, girls' style and other merchandise,” explains Schlessinger.

About Five Below: If you’ve never been to a Five Below, check us out! Imagine a colorful, wacky “five-and-dime” store where everything is priced at $1 to $5. The dynamic assortment of merchandise includes (but definitely not limited to) sporting goods, games and toys, fashion accessories and jewelry, bath and body, hobbies and collectibles, snacks and beverages, multimedia, party goods and so much more -- all at allowance-friendly pricing. The concept has blossomed from one Philadelphia suburb store to a regional chain of over 50 stores in five Mid-Atlantic States in just three years.
