Milwaukee, WI (PRWEB) September 28, 2006 -- The National Association of Minority and Women Owned Law Firms (NAMWOLF) commends BBDO, DDB, Merkley, PHD and the New York City Commission on Human Rights for their commitment to continue efforts in building diversity. The agencies are working to construct a diverse makeup of staff to mirror that of their multicultural marketplace.
“It is with great delight to see these various agencies come to an agreement for the cause of diversity,” said Yolanda Coly, Associate Director of NAMWOLF. “After hearing of Omnicom Group’s and the New York City Council’s announcement of committing to a $2 million diversity initiative, this latest agreement between the agencies and the commission is very encouraging in the efforts to build business diversity.”
Omnicom Group Inc. has been a leader in the marketing and advertising industry with a strong portfolio that includes – BBDO, DDB, Merkley and PHD. Omnicom’s pledge to assemble a long-term diversity initiative is viewed as helping pave the way for other companies within the industry to increase diversity efforts.
Coly added, “These unions, coupled with the purpose to boost diversity, afford the opportunity for the increase utilization of minority and women-owned law firms by companies. I am very optimistic that minority-owned firms will now see additional work outsourced by in-house counsel at major corporations.”
The National Association of Minority & Women Owned Law Firms (www.namwolf.org) was founded in June, 2001. It is a national trade association comprising a select group of minority and women-owned law firms who exhibit excellence in the legal profession. The primary aim of the organization is to advocate for the increased utilization of minority and women-owned law firms by major corporations and public entities throughout the United States.
