NYHARURU, Kenya (PRWEB) September 28, 2006 -- A third center to house and educate orphans in this African nation was opened here recently by an organization that is working to help orphans around the world.
Andrew Sievright, founder of Heroes of the Nation, announced the opening of the third center. The other two centers already being operated by the organization are also located in Kenya. Another is also located in Nyharuru, with the third in Nyrie. More than 370 orphans are being housed, cared for, and educated with the goal of being future leaders of their communities.
Sievright founded the growing Children at Risk organization in 2002. Board members Wesley and Stacey Campbell—founders of Be a Hero (another organization serving at-risk children)—have joined Sievright to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for Heroes of the Nation. The three have been tireless crusaders for orphaned children throughout the world.
From 1992 to 1997, Sievright was the director and CEO of Last Days Ministries, founded by the late Keith Green. At LDM, Sievright oversaw a staff of 110 and an organization whose impact was felt around the world. The reports of his staff traveling to third-world countries and his own travels outside the U.S. raised Sievright’s interest in and awareness of the plight of orphaned children living without hope.
Dr. Weston and Violet Gitonga, the African directors of Heroes of the Nation, work full time overseeing the orphanages, as well as Leadership Training Schools in Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, Tanzania and Zanzibar.
In an effort to raise spiritual leaders for Africa, Dr. Gitonga started the Leadership/Bible Training schools in 1988. Hundreds of graduates are now pastors, bringing spiritual leadership to several nations of Africa. Dr. Gitonga is respected throughout many African nations as a man of integrity, passion, leadership and vision.
Leading financial contributors to, and corporate sponsors of, Heroes of the Nation include Domain Source Inc., Be a Hero and Breakfast Club, as well as numerous individuals.
Sievright travels regularly from his Southern California home to the Heroes of the Nation centers in Africa to visit “his” children and staff, and works regularly with other organizations serving at-risk children to find large-scale solutions for orphans around the world. He is currently working with the former mayor of Nairobi on an HTN home for 600 children in Kenya’s capital city.
Heroes of the Nation invites compassionate individuals to join them as partners to impact the orphans of Africa. For more information, contact Heroes of the Nation at 530-242-0220 or visit www.htn.org.
