New York, NY (PRWEB) September 28, 2006
After an impressive NFL rookie year, New York Jets safety Kerry Rhodes is displaying very strong moves in the past three games and beyond. The statuesque Defensive Back was named the AFC’s Defensive Player of the Week after his amazing game against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday and is nominated for player of the month.
With a shared team-high of 12 tackles and a third strip-sack for the second consecutive week, Rhodes is proving his weight in gold and potential. “I think he’s really starting to develop some positive leadership skills in the secondary,” said Jets head coach Eric Mangini. “You can see it in his preparation during the week and that keen maturity. He has done a good job trying to improve his technique. All that is positive and he’s made some big plays here in the last few weeks.” Kerry acknowledges that there is still work to be done. In reference to his head coach he said, “He just gave us the confidence that we’re never out of a situation. “We believe in him and we took to that advice.”
Rhodes’ leadership skills are evident off the field as well. Kerry established The RHODES Foundation in 2006 to address the Reaffirming Hopes Of Dream Endearing Scholars living in America’s impoverished neighborhoods. The foundation’s mission supports the educational and financial advancement of young people in underserved high schools nationwide. He subscribes to the motto, “If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it.” By challenging the limitations associated with poor schools and their students, The RHODES Foundation reflects its founder’s commitment to excellence, social change and personal growth.
Kerry holds a Bachelors degree in Communications and minored in Theater Arts at the University of Louisville. He continues to explore new platforms for his abilities. In his role for the upcoming film, The Queen of Media, Kerry will be featured as a college-level athlete opposite the lead character. This film is an adaptation of syndicated radio personality Wendy Williams’ New York Times bestseller, "Wendy's Got the Heat- The Queen of Radio Bares All."
With his on-screen performance in this film as well as independent film “Misunderstandings,” Kerry will have the opportunity to translate his charisma and talent from the field to the silver screen. Kerry’s varied role selections show his versatility as an actor.
Before both films hit the screens in 2007, fans can sneak a peak at Kerry’s fabulous aesthetic in the current issue of UPSCALE Magazine on newsstands right now. Kerry’s striking features and stylish sensibility have positioned him for several offers from fashion’s elite as a model and spokesperson in the near future.
