Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation to Honor Children at Annual Dinner Gala
KHS&S Contractors will sponsor the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation's Profiles of Courage Dinner Gala so that all ticket proceeds will benefit the Foundation. The event will honor young people in Nevada who have shown exemplary courage while battling a critical illness.
Las Vegas, NV (PRWEB) September 30, 2006 -- The Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation's Profiles of Courage Dinner Gala will be held on November 11, 2006 at 6 PM at the Mirage Hotel Events Center. The gala honors children in Nevada with critical illnesses who have shown exemplary courage. This is the thirteenth year the event is being held in Las Vegas.
At the beginning of the evening, attendees will "sail away to the islands" with a cocktail hour, silent auction and live entertainment. Guests will then enjoy a gourmet dinner and have an opportunity to bid on original art and luxurious vacations. 700 people are expected to attend.
The focus on the children as honorees makes this gala particularly exceptional. Under the leadership of Jeff Gordon, President and CEO of the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation, a team of volunteers began planning this event in April, seven months before the event. Volunteers have been striving to create an enjoyable, memorable evening where the children are the stars of the evening.
"After my niece died of a brain tumor, I wanted to return some of the kindness shown to Olivia and her family during her illness. When I found NVCCF, I knew their mission was all about the kids. This dinner is a chance to honor the kids, volunteers, and community sponsors in a setting that befits the 'elegance' of their lives. I want to be a part of the team that makes this night special for some very special people," says Tonya Nieman, a member of Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation's Dinner Planning Committee.
All of the money raised at this event will stay in Nevada. KHS&S Contractors has generously offered to sponsor the dinner so that all ticket proceeds will go to support the children. Each auction item is also donated so that 100% of the purchase price will fund the programs of the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation. The Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation is a nonprofit organization that helps local families with children who have cancer, HIV/AIDS, autoimmune diseases, renal disorders and other life-threatening illnesses.
The Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation is well known for its Camp Cartwheel, a medically supervised camp for children who have or have had critical illnesses. Many people don't realize that the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation's volunteers and employees work with families 52 weeks per year.
The organization employs a psychologist with a Ph.D., a licensed social worker and a case manager. Families are referred to these professionals by area hospitals and physicians immediately upon diagnosis. A complete psychosocial assessment is performed to evaluate psychological, social, financial, individual and family needs of the children and their caregivers. Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation's professionals serve as counselors, liaisons, educators and advocates for the children and caregivers as they address their unique needs.
The black-tie optional event is open to the public and serves as the organization's primary annual fund-raiser. Tickets can be purchased by visiting www.nvccf.org or by calling the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation at (702)735-8434. Tables of ten are available for a $2500 donation and individual tickets are available for $250. Evening Sponsor Packages are also available from $5000 to $15,000.
