Blue Lips -- Laughing In The Face of Death

E Commerce Store for the Morbid Minded

(PRWEB) January 12, 2006 -- Bluelips.com faces death in a way no one else has ever done. Offering products from chocolate body parts, coffin jewelry, scary T shirts, post mortem collectibles and lots of Egyptian themed goodies it has a little something for just about everyone.

A dot com since 1999 it was originally started by a cancer patient who was trying to research the dying process. When faced with having to make her own funeral arrangements there were many questions that went unanswered. Questions about embalming were answered with responses like "no one ever asks those kinds of questions" and "you don't need to know that" by representatives of the funeral industry. This "secretive" attitude, coupled by her refusal to allow the title "incurable" to mark her life path led Toni Pallett to create the website.

The website was inspired by the late Jessica Mitford who wrote "The American Way of Death" which was an expose' of the industry.

In the past year the company changed ownership because of the failing health of the original owner. The website has undergone a major face lift and has increased it's offerings to including fine Egyptian and Gothic statuary and gifts, an intriguing selection of death related videos and dvds, anatomical chocolate, books, dead flowers and much more. Bluelips has always donated 25% and more of its profits to cancer research.

The website caught the eye of Patrick Shen who produced the documentary "Flight From Death". Mr. Shen asked the original owner (Toni Pallett) to be interviewed in the documentary. The documentary has received numerous accolades and awards and is based on the teachings of Ernest Becker, a cultural anthropologist who had theories about the denial of death and how society deals with death.

Not for everyone, Bluelips has had over 1 million visitors and now sponsors its own forum so that customers, friends and the curious can get answers to questions or just meet others who are fascinated by death.

The website is now under the ownership of Karen Hutchinson.
