Future Barriers Ltd., Unveils Industry's First Electric Surface Mounted Barrier

Future Barriers Ltd., a manufacturer of innovative perimeter security equipment, released a new anti-terrorism surface mounted barrier becoming the industry's first electric operated barrier.

Atlanta, GA January 2, 2005 – Future Barriers Ltd., a manufacturer of innovative perimeter security equipment, released a new anti-terrorism surface mounted vehicle barrier becoming the industry’s first electric operated vehicle barrier. The FB-SM (Future Barriers Surface Mount) barrier was designed to alleviate many reliability, efficiency, and maintenance problems associated with the recognized industry standard of hydraulic operated vehicle barriers. Future Barriers is looking to capture a portion of the market offering equipment that boast superior design, functionality, and security than the competition.

The new vehicle barrier became available today to most customers in North America. The vehicle barrier provides protection to vehicle entrances that do not have room for extensive excavation, but require more security than just a gate arm. This is the first of many vehicle barriers that will be released by the company to defend facilities against intrusion. Future Barriers recognized the need in the industry for an aesthetically pleasing alternative to the industrial appearance of barrier systems currently available on the market. The result was the development of a high security barrier system that can be configured to blend with current architectural trends. The heavy structure necessary to protect a facility is there but the barrier doesn’t detract from the overall appearance of the customer’s facility.

The Future Barriers Surface Mount Series (FB-SM) is a modular bolt-down barrier system designed to prevent vehicular intrusion into facilities. These systems are designed to meet the traffic control scenarios for a variety of facilities. They can be configured to withstand an impact from a vehicle weighing 15,000 lbs traveling @ 35 mph. The most notable feature is an all in one safety module implemented by Future Barriers into the barricade. The safety-module includes a gate arm and a traffic light module that are integrated into the buttress. This integration reduces the overall installation space required and reduces installation costs as well. The safety-module features a safety arm that is smooth, quick and quiet and lights that are easily visible in all weather conditions. These lights are designed to be part of the buttress, at the barrier, and reduce the confusion of having lights in a position where they may be overlooked by a driver approaching the barrier.

The new vehicle barrier (FB-SM) is now available in North America through authorized distributors. Future Barriers, Ltd. did note that the company plans to focus on core manufacturing and design activities and at this point will only sell through authorized distributors. All product and purchasing information can be found by contacting a distributor or visiting www.FutureBarriers.com.
