Personal Trainers on the Cutting Edge of Finess Programing

The best trainers are watching and correcting posture with the latest in exercise programing.

Virginia Beach, Virginia (PRWEB) January 1, 2006 -- Bayside Wellness & Fitness Center today announce that its trainers, through hours of study and workshops, have received certification through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. The company is excited to be the only center in Hampton Roads with a full staff of NASM trainers that are qualified to deliver to clients the Optimum Performance Training System (OPT).

The OPT system of training is a progressive, integrated training system that is based on human movement science. The OPT system was conceptualized as a training program for a society that has more structural imbalances and susceptibility to injury than ever before. Research has shown that 50 - 90 percent of sedentary people who begin an exercise program suffer some sort of injury within the first six weeks. These injuries are often related to postural distortions that are created by muscle imbalances that cause joint dysfunction, faulty movement patterns and decreased neuromuscular efficiency. Traditional exercise programs will only cause more stress to these joint dysfunctions and will eventually lead to injury as an exercise program progresses.

The OPT system identifies these distortions with a postural assessment that allows trainers to address these muscle imbalances with a corrective program that works to lengthen tight muscles and strengthen weakened muscles. This gives the joints more range of motion and allows the posture to be realigned creating more efficient movement patterns and neuromuscular efficiency. The system also develops the body’s stabilizing muscles to improve the muscles' ability to stabilize and protect the spine, hips, knees, shoulders and ankles. The OPT model integrates all forms of training into every workout. These forms of training include flexibility training, cardiorespiratory training, core training, balance training, reactive training and resistance training. These forms of training are progressed through three stages. These stages are the stabilization stage, the strength stage and the power stage. Each stage brings different adaptations to the body and the way a person performs the exercises changes as they move through the program. Each client has different goals so some of the variables of each stage are manipulated to accommodate each client.

"It is difficult for sedentary people to change their lifestyle and incorporating exercise can be an uncomfortable experience if not done professionally," said Mark Dana of Bayside Wellness & Fitness Center. "I feel comfortable with the knowledge that my trainers have gained through the NASM certification and I’m sure this will be the fastest growing standard in the fitness industry."
