Mekon supplies XML Content Management and Publishing Solution for UK Software Company using DITA

Apertio Limited choose Mekon to supply an XML content management and publishing solution using the Darwin Information Typing Architecture (DITA).

(PRWEB) January 6, 2006 -- Today Mekon announces Apertio has chosen Mekon to supply an end-to-end XML publishing solution to help optimise the production of technical manuals and online help. Mekon will be integrating its Darwin Information Typing Architecture (DITA) optimised XML content management system, ‘Notus XMS’ with 3rd party authoring and pagination tools. Mekon has also developed a content mapping tool for Apertio, which allows the mapping of unstructured legacy content to the DITA standard.

“We selected Mekon because they have a considerable track record in technical publishing, and consequently have the necessary in-depth technical competence that is essential to drive such a project, together with a flexibility of approach and a willingness to adapt systems to suit Apertio’s needs. We believe that Mekon will supply us with a cost effective XML publishing and document storage system that will be tailored to our needs and will help improve our efficiency”…..Peter Burdett, Technical Author, Apertio Limited

We recommended DITA as the publishing standard due to the flexibility of its ‘topic’ based approach to information architecture. The standard enables information elements to be ‘context free’, thereby allowing information to be easily re-used across multiple output channels
With 15 years experience in XML & SGML, Mekon is uniquely positioned as the UKs leading single-source publishing experts and is readily equipped to optimise organisations publishing processes. After a thorough analysis of Apertio’s publishing objectives, Mekon recommended the DITA standard as the most effective for enabling content re-use.

“We recommended DITA as the publishing standard due to the flexibility of its ‘topic’ based approach to information architecture. The standard enables information elements to be ‘context free’, thereby allowing information to be easily re-used across multiple output channels”.. Richard Murfitt, CEO, Mekon Ltd
