Rick and Jane McKinney Walk 2,800 Miles to Reclaim America's Freedoms, Families & Faith!

Rick & Jane McKinney of Our Heart Ministries, set out January 1, 2006, from Los Angeles, California and will end up in Washington, DC on July 4, 2006. Why are they doing this? To reclaim the freedoms, families and faith set in place by this nation's founding fathers.

(PRWEB) January 8, 2006 -- Reclaim What?

Over 200 years ago when our founding fathers formed this nation, they could not have imagined the truths that they loved so much and risked their lives for would one day be hated and scorned by so many. They would never have believed that some would one day seek to remove all references to God, all moral standards, and all public display of religions from our land.

We believe that our country was founded on the principals of freedom, the traditional family, and faith in the Almighty God. We believe that those freedoms guaranteed by our country's founding documents, those traditional family values so long held dear by our society, and the faith referred to time and again by Washington, Adams, Lincoln, and practically every other political in our country's history are the truths that made this country great... and those truths are fading fast.

It's time to reclaim America's Freedoms, Families, and Faith. It's time to stand up and tell the truth about this country's history of faith. It's time to call America back to the truths that have brought God's blessings in the past. It's time to call America to a living, relevant faith that will enable us to deal with the threats and dangers of the present and give us hope for a blessed future.

Walk Where?

On January 1st , 2006 Rick and Jane McKinney, of Our Heart Ministries, will leave Los Angeles, California on foot and begin a journey that will take them over 2800 miles to Washington D.C. by July 4th. They will be joined by other concerned Christians who together will be setting out to literally reclaim America... one step at a time.

The journey will begin at the Santa Monica Pier, and progress east, following old Route 66. The walk will take them through California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and Oklahoma. In Oklahoma City, they will leave Route 66 and follow the I-40 corridor through Eastern Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Tennessee. At this point, they will head north through Virginia to Washington D.C.

Since few states allow foot traffic on Interstate Highways, it will be necessary for the walkers to use state routes, abandoned access roads, and even railroad tracks to complete the journey.

How Will This Help?

Sometimes people misunderstand our intentions. We are not walking across America to bring political change. We are not walking across America to raise money for a political party. As a matter a fact, we don't even believe that the kind of change America needs can be accomplished by legislative means. This kind of change can only be accomplished when hearts and lives are changed from the inside out, one person at a time.

We are not just trying to make a statement. We hope that this walk will be part of what God is doing to bring spiritual renewal in America. We are convinced that the walk will help in three ways:

One, through INTERCESSION. As we walk we will be praying for our country and for the people we meet. Spiritual awakenings have taken place in the past with miraculous results, but they have always started with prayer.

Two, we are trusting that our walk will bring ENCOURAGEMENT to Christians to begin living out their faith in visible ways to show people that God really does care about them. Talking and preaching will never have the results we hope for until Christians put "feet on their prayers" and show what we say when we believe enough to do something about it!

Three, we are believing for many opportunities for INTERACTION with people from all walks of life. Our hope is that God will prepare their hearts and arrange their situations so that they will allow us to share our faith with them.

How You Can Help?

We need lots of volunteers! We need state coordinators to arrange travel arrangements and rallies, drivers for escort vehicles, people to help with mailings, and lots of other jobs. You can volunteer for a few days or until the walk is over.

We need walkers to join us for a few days, a week, a month, or the entire walk. We encourage youth groups to use this walk as a mission trip, families to spend part of their vacations walking, and other concerned Christians to join us for this once in a lifetime ministry opportunity.

We need financial support! You can help with a monthly gift, a one time gift, or a donation based on an amount per mile. (2800 miles).
