Chicago, IL (PRWEB) January 8, 2006 -- The Lunar New Year comes on January 29, 2006 and it is the year of the Dog and year 4704 on the Chinese calendar. People who are born in the year of the Dog are loyal, dependable, honest, and trustworthy. For this year expect turbulences, revolts, and change but justice, goodness, and tranquility will rule the day.
Chinese people celebrate the New Year for fifteen days. Every day has its own designated purpose. When to visit your relatives, in-laws, co-workers and friends. We give presents and Hong Bao (red envelope containing money for good luck) to the children or unmarried young people and trade gifts with people we visit. The celebration ends on the fifteenth day with the Lantern Day. On the Lantern Day the children will have a parade of their home made lantern and finish with riddle, and pre-set chess games for prizes of candy and cookies.
For the Chinese New Year we eat dumplings (treasure in pockets), fish (abundance), prawns (liveliness and happiness), duck (prosperity), noodles (longevity) and seafood for different good wishes.
