Charleston, SC (PRWEB) January 10, 2006
David Parker, president of The Greater Charleston Magic Club, is asking all Charleston area magicians to disappear on Friday the 13th. Yes, January 13th could be very lucky for those able to attend the "S.C.A.M." convention in Columbia, S.C. to receive instruction from some of the world's top professional magicians.
S.C.A.M. is a clever acronym for the South Carolina Association of Magicians and this will be 11th year that Columbia, SC has hosted this International conventional. This year, the convention will run from January 13-14 at the Columbia Marriott Hotel. Featured performers include Jade, Joshua Jay, Gazzo, Tony Griffith, Daniel Garria, Julian Frankin, Jason Michaels, The Fettucini Brothers, Joe Jesse and Michael Genvie. Tony Griffith will be holding a special master class for a fifteen select magicians on January 12.
Englishman Tony Griffith will be holding a special Workshop the day before the main convention for fifteen magicians. He has been performing magic for over thirty years and is a member of England's prestigious Inner Circle - a very select honorary group of England's best magicians. Local port truck driver, David Parker, from Ladson, SC will be one of the lucky fifteen who will be in attendance at Mr. Griffith's all day master class. "I feel fortunate that Henry Pettit called me and invited me to attend. It will be an honor to be able to meet with Tony again, and to receive special instruction from one of the most respected magicians in the world. It's a little bittersweet because I understand this will be the last time he will coming to the States due to medical problems."
S.C.A.M. is not only for magicians. The general public is invited to attend shows each day of the convention. Close up magic, storytelling magic and more at the EdVenture Children's Museum on Saturday, January 14, featuring Columbia's Sarah Straney, and the finest young magicians in South Carolina.
Magic Day at Edventure Children's Museum, Sunday, January 15, 1-5 PM,
Featuring magic shows by nationally known kid show artist Julian Franklin and more, and workshops in magic and balloon sculpting (ages 6 and up).
The event will be capped off with the International Magic Gala Show at the Koger Center for the Arts on Saturday, January 14, at 8 PM. The show will star world renown magician Jade, illusionist Jason Michaels, British magicians Tony Griffith and Gazzo, The Famous Fettucini Brothers, plus others performing sleight of hand magic in the lobby, and more.
