Siteworx Completes New e-Store for National Geographic Home Entertainment

Web design and integration expert Siteworx has finished construction of a new online DVD store for National Geographic Home Entertainment at www.shopngvideos.com, an attractive and interactive site that enables viewers to search, view, and purchase entertainment and educational materials.

Reston, VA (PRWEB) January 16, 2006 -- Web design and integration expert Siteworx has finished construction of a new online DVD store for National Geographic Home Entertainment at www.shopngvideos.com, an attractive and interactive site that enables viewers to search, view, and purchase entertainment and educational materials.

Customers can preview videos online, shop by price, subject, suggested gift ideas, and by special promotions. Integration with the legacy system of National Geographic Home Entertainment’s fulfillment center, Client Logic, allows secure ordering and tracking of products, newsletters subscriptions, and a host of other automated customer service functions. The online store also offers a DVD burn-on-demand feature so that customers can choose from a larger selection of older National Geographic films on DVD.

“Having the capabilities of the new online store and the flexibility it offers, is a great asset to us,” says Kristen Faust, marketing manager, domestic home video, for National Geographic Home Entertainment. “The attractive design and user-friendly infrastructure from Siteworx gives customers a satisfying shopping experience.”

A central part of the initiative involved deployment of Axiom, a content management platform that makes it possible to store, retrieve, and publish categories of content and price them by product, volume, affinity, membership and other characteristics. With functions for e-commerce, integration, generation of outbound email marketing campaigns, and creation of real-time traffic reports, user-friendly Axiom was adapted to the needs of the organization rather than the other way around. As a result, the system is customized and is no larger or more complex than necessary.

“The major challenge with e-commerce systems today is building them to accommodate many dependencies,” says Adelle Emery, director of client services at Siteworx. “Customizing a system that allows viewers to mix and match features with continuous promotional campaigns requires a flexible, platform-based technology that can meet multiple requirements, and National Geographic Home Entertainment is now in a position to handle the diverse needs of its membership.”

National Geographic Home Video and DVD titles are distributed in the U.S. by Warner Home Video (WHV), a Time Warner company, operating in 57 countries including the U.S. and Canada. WHV is one of the world’s leading suppliers of pre-recorded videocassettes and videodiscs and is a market leader in family entertainment.
