Based on Palacio’s book of collective short stories, AGADA is slated to star Donna Coe, a Belizean American from Long Beach, California whose casting was previously announced. Based on true events, AGADA tells the story of a tall, pretty, gracious, strong and assertive woman who amazes an entire town in a huge mystery. A butcher, and mother of four children whose fathers are four different men, is accused of stealing (which in those days, was a huge crime and punishable to the full extent of the Colonial law) by her Jamaican neighbor who wants to see the full punishment imposed. With the talk and support of the entire town, Agada is taken to court and defends herself in a mysterious manner of conduct that leaves the citizens of Peini (Punta Gorda) puzzled unto this present day.

An audition to select the cast of this promising family-oriented Garifuna feature production will be announced to be held at various places throughout Belize. The production seeks all types of people to take on the various roles available in the film. There are no experiences needed as an acting coach will be hired to work with each principal cast. Anyone is encouraged to apply by sending their biological information and two digital headshots and one full body shot in an e-mail message to resume@edwincolon.tk. A list of available casting roles can be seen online at Xanthe Films’ website.

Principal photography for AGADA begins in late May 2006, and the entire film will be shot in Punta Gorda Town, Belize and off a coastal Honduras mainland in Central America. The film is set for theatrical release in the winter of 2007.

AGADA will be produced and co-directed by Edwin Colon, from the script written by Ludwig Palacio and edited by Felene Cayetano. Executive Producers are Edwin Colon and Ludwig Palacio.
