Bid4Assets, Inc Announces New Appointment and Executive Management Promotions

Changes accentuate company’s rapid growth in private and government online auction industry.
If you’re buying or selling high-value items, we want your first thought to be Bid4Assets

Silver Spring, MD. January 25 -- Richard W. Hayman, President and CEO of Bid4Assets, Inc., today announced key promotions within the company’s executive management team, as well as the appointment of a new Marketing and Communications Vice President, in a move designed to solidify Bid4Assets’ market share and new growth ventures.

Hayman said Bid4Assets is poised for significant growth in 2006, with two overarching priorities set in its site: strengthening the company’s brand and reinforcing its steadfast commitment to stay at the forefront of today’s online technology.

“If you’re buying or selling high-value items, we want your first thought to be Bid4Assets,” Hayman said. “I am confident and excited about the next level of business that these three executives are going to deliver. Separately, and together, they have the energy, creativity, branding and technical expertise expected from a first-class team.”

Hayman added that the foundation of Bid4Assets’ premier reputation is its ability to adapt to the immediate needs of buyers and sellers in an energetic online marketplace. According to Hayman, the strategic expertise that each of the following executives brings to their new jobs will lock-in Bid4Assets’ position as the leading online auction site for high-value items:

*   Laura A. Reimers, formerly of Discovery Communications, Inc. is appointed Vice President, Marketing and Communications. Reimers will report to Hayman and is responsible for strategic marketing and communications planning, advertising, public relations, lead generation, brand development and market positioning. A thirteen-year strategy and communications executive, Reimers has extensive experience in developing fully-integrated tactical marketing and communications programs and initiatives. Prior to joining Bid4Assets, Reimers spent eight years at Discovery Communications, Inc., most recently, as Vice President, Communications for Discovery Health Channel. In that role, she directed and managed the cable network’s positioning and messaging, issues management, media relations, strategic partnerships and large-scale promotional events.

*   Scott T. Smurthwaite, Ph.D, is promoted to the position of Chief Technology Officer. Smurthwaite, previously held the position of Bid4Assets’ Senior Director, Web Development. In his new position, Smurthwaite will be responsible for all aspects of developing and implementing Bid4Assets’ technology initiatives from its online auction division to the core of its online business -- personalized account management. Smurthwaite joined Bid4Assets in 2001. He has over 15 years experience in the technology arena and has implemented web technologies for the World Bank, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and the U.S. Department of Commerce.

*   Mark M. Wheeler is promoted to the position of Chief Information Officer. Wheeler previously was Senior Director, Information Technology. In his new position, Wheeler is responsible for the management of multiple information and communications systems and projects, including voice, data, imaging and office automation. Wheeler will also provide direction for the company’s future technological needs and leadership for developing and implementing innovative technology programs necessary to support the company’s hands-on approach to online auctions. Wheeler was one of the company’s first employees, hired in 1999, and responsible for Bid4Assets’ technology platform and online services. Before joining Bid4Assets, Wheeler spent five years at USATODAY.com in the e-commerce unit.
