Bringing Quality Care Closer Home. . .US Based Health Group To Develop First Class Cancer Center In Africa

As the effort to attract foreign investment and improve Africa’s infrastructure continues, there are signs of subtle but steady gains. However, analysis reveals that poor quality health care and restricted access, especially amongst low to middle income population is responsible for high cancer mortality in Africa. New York, NY (PRWEB) January 28, 2006 -- As the effort to attract foreign investments and improve Africa’s infrastructure continues, there are signs of subtle but steady gains. However, analysis reveals that poor quality health care and restricted access, especially amongst low to middle income population is responsible for high cancer mortality in Africa. Quite often, affluent patients resort to seeking medical care abroad, at a very high financial burden to their families and the local economy.

To this end, New Era Capital Corp, has been retained as Strategic Financial Advisors by The American Hospitals and Resorts Ltd/Cancer-Q (www.CancerQ.com) to help conduct feasibility study and develop a comprehensive framework for establishing the first specialized oncology (cancer) treatment and rehabilitation complex in sub-Sahara Africa (outside of South Africa). The mandate will entail assessing market conditions, identifying/evaluating funding options and outlining critical steps for achieving strategic milestones.

Camp Sinai International® is planned to meet the highest standard of quality, functionality, aesthetics and service delivery comparable to some of the best hospitals in the world. The complex will be located in a 10-acre plot, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean in Lagos, Nigeria. The venture will be executed in conjunction with other equity investors and financial institutions in three phases at a total cost of $40 million beginning second half of 2006. Camp Sinai Complex would encompass an oncology (cancer) in/out-patient unit, patient wards, and chemotherapy/ rehabilitation center with state-of-the-art equipments.

The project will also include an international-brand 4-star resort that would cater to tourists as well as patients, their families and visitors. Upon completion, Camp Sinai would attract patronage from around the continent and run by a team of US-based oncologists with the support of local counterparts. This should help elevate the level of care and facilitate skills acquisition by home-based medical practitioners.

“The rationale for this project is premised on our conviction that there is an urgent need to meet growing demand for quality oncology care within the continent, therefore we are highly optimistic on the prospects for Camp Sinai and confident that New Era Capital would do a great job of helping us navigate the process” – noted by Dr Richards Afonja, New Jersey based Oncologist and Founder/CEO of The American Hospitals & Resorts Ltd and Cancer-Q.
