Texas Army National Guard Recruiting Force Meets Goal Again and Continues Path towards Successful 2006 Mission

(PRWEB) January 28, 2006 -- The Texas Army National Guard Recruiting Command will celebrate the accomplishments of 2005 at its annual awards conference in San Antonio this weekend and is also able to feel good about what lies ahead. The combined efforts of more than 190 recruiters teamed up to produce its best first quarter in the past 10 years.
"I want to extend my thanks for a job well done," Lieutenant Colonel Ron McLaurin, Commander of the Texas Army National Guard Recruiting Battalion, said in an address to his soldiers. "Let's keep this trend going."

Texas accounts for more than 17,000 Army National Guard soldiers annually and is a key state in accomplishing the overall end-strength mission of National Guard Bureau each year.
"Texas made its mission this year [fiscal year 2005 and that is huge." National Guard Bureau Chief Lieutenant General Steve Blum said while visiting Camp Mabry in Austin, Texas last September.
In addition to recognizing 2005's top achievers during the awards conference at San Antonio's Crowne Plaza Hotel this weekend, a special ceremony will take place Saturday morning.
Sgt. 1st Class Roland Hall will receive the Bronze Star Medal for his recent service in Iraq, and his father, retired Sgt. William Hall, will receive the Purple Heart for his service during the Korean War. Maj. Gen. Charles G. Rodriguez, Adjutant General of Texas, will present the decorations to both Sergeant Halls. Brig. Gen. John Furlow, Assistant Adjutant General-Army, and Command Sgt. Maj. Richard Vasquez, state command sergeant major, will also participate in the ceremony that begins at 9:30 a.m.
