Country music sensation Blair Lindsey will lead ‘Team FreeGirl’ at the upcoming Safe Harbor Animal Sanctuary and Hospital Celebrity Dog Wash and Band-Aid Festival on February 11th and 12th at the Meyer Amphitheatre in Downtown West Palm Beach.

(PRWEB) January 29, 2006 -- Country music sensation Blair Lindsey will lead ‘Team FreeGirl’ at the upcoming Safe Harbor Animal Sanctuary and Hospital Celebrity Dog Wash and Band-Aid Festival on February 11th and 12th at the Meyer Amphitheatre in Downtown West Palm Beach.

Lindsey will be unveiling a new signature T-shirt for FreeGirl, an apparel company and foundation dedicated to supporting and empowering women and girls throughout the world.

"The more we get the FreeGirl name out, the better place the world will be,” explained Gaby Hall, FreeGirl’s Vice President of Business Development. “It may sound simple, but it’s the truth. This is an idea whose time has come…there is no stopping any of us!”
”I believe in the FreeGirl dream,” said singer Blair Lindsey. “My dream has always been to become a country singer/performer. My dream now is to use my talents to help every woman become aware of the FreeGirl Foundation. I believe in the FreeGirl motto and all of the empowerment it gives to women. I am thrilled to be a part of this event.”

“Everywhere we go,” added Hall, “women, men, girls and boys alike stop us and ask how they can get involved. There is so much we can do when we all work together for a wonderful common goal. We look forward to meeting all the South Florida FreeGirls on the 11th and 12th! ”

What is a FreeGirl?
FreeGirl: (fre'gurl) n. 1. Female of any age and race who is or aspires to be an independent woman. 2. Any female who demonstrates one or more of the following qualities: independence, courage, valor, leadership, perseverance, generosity, humanitarianism, kindness or patriotism. 3. Community-conscious women's apparel company dedicated to the promotion of "FreeGirls" everywhere. 4. A stylish celebration of the female spirit!

About FreeGirl Apparel, Inc.
FreeGirl was born from three years of sustained effort by three long-time South Florida-based friends, two cops and a pilot, following the tragedies of 9/11/2001. All three were shocked by coverage of Afghan women being publicly executed for having shown their hair in public. Instead of idly sitting by, they began discussing how they might make a difference by bringing gender-based violence, and specifically violence against women, front-and-center in the world’s eye. All of this ultimately led to the creation of FreeGirl Apparel, Inc. and The FreeGirl Foundation, a not-for-profit corporation

About The FreeGirl Foundation
The FreeGirl Foundation, a not-for-profit corporation, was created to eliminate the dehumanization of women. Our mission is to promote awareness and the prevention of gender-based violence and to empower women and girls everywhere. It is our intention to fund programs and/or individuals and to partner with organizations that will improve the quality of life of females by advancing their independence, security, education, health, self-reliance and freedom.
