Youth Expert Walt Mueller Shares Secrets with Parents on Understanding Today’s Youth Culture, Thursday, February 16, 2006 at 7:00 PM, at Grace Point in Newtown
President of the Center for Parent/Youth Understanding to Speak on Guiding Teenagers and Pre-Teens in Today’s Culture Based on the Latest Research and Trends
Newtown, PA (PRWEB) January 29, 2006 -- “Parents need all the help they can get,” says Steve Johnson who directs children’s ministries for Newtown’s First Baptist Church at Grace Point. “My kids are growing up in a culture quite different from the one I did. Moral and social hazards are more accessible today. At Grace Point we’ve created a Family Life Center to give parents tools they can use to mentor their children. And that’s why we invited Walt Mueller to come in February and talk about his research of youth culture.”
Walt Mueller, founder of the Center for Parent/Youth Understanding, has worked with young people and parents for more than 30 years. He is author of the critically acclaimed text, “Understanding Today’s Youth Culture” and is recognized as a leading authority on youth culture. “What I like about Mueller’s approach,” Johnson notes, “is that he understands the need for parents to guide their children through the trials of the culture they live in, without isolating them from it. He holds that if parents understand the culture and their sons and daughters, they can give them the positive direction they need to successfully navigate the teen years.”
Walt Mueller will be at Grace Point one evening only, Thursday, February 16. His two-hour presentation will begin at 7:00 PM. The general public is welcome. The material will be especially useful for parents of teens and pre-teens and for others with an interest in youth. Admission is $5 a person. Tickets can be ordered through the Grace Point web site (gracepointpa.org) or the office (215-968-2354). The church is located at the junction of Route 532 and Stoopville Road, about mid way between Newtown and Washington Crossing.
