REDDING, California (PRWEB) October 3, 2006
Before starting an orphanage in Africa, Andrew Sievright had no idea how to begin such a venture.
The founder of Heroes of the Nation—a non-profit organization that strives to rescue African orphans by giving them a home, medical aid and vital schooling—Sievright said he had faith that “if he would start the process, all the pieces would come together.”
And they did. Sievright went to Africa and interviewed five potential on-site directors. One couple “stood out from all the rest,” he said. Sievright hired them and some additional staff members. He gave them a vision and a mandate of values and a simple business plan, and the work “took hold.”
Heroes of the Nation now has the attention of African leaders and media who have visited the orphanages and say the work is “remarkable.” The children are convinced that they are all future heroes for Africa, and have a strong desire to help others. Their scholastic test scores (at the school run by Heroes) are among the highest in the country.
In his quest to better the lives of underprivileged children and orphans, Sievright has personally contributed over $1 million to Heroes of the Nation. At the heart of his vision is a fiery pursuit to train and educate these orphans to be leaders.
“Children are the future of their nations,” Sievright said. “The hope of generations to come rests in them.”
Sievright travels regularly from his Southern California home to the Heroes of the Nation centers in Africa, where he visits “his” children and 35 staff members. He works regularly with other children-at-risk organizations to find large scale solutions for orphans around the world. Sievright has discovered the beauty of the people of Africa and has a passion to raise their orphaned children into leaders for Africa’s future. Heroes of the Nation is the largest orphanage in the African nation of Kenya.
Sievright is a gifted leader, speaker, songwriter and author. He is the founder and president of two successful businesses, Net Vis Inc. and Domain Source, Inc. Both companies contribute a significant part of their profits to Heroes of the Nation. Sievright also sits on the boards of and consults for other organizations which serve at-risk children.
From 1992 to 1997, Sievright was the director and CEO of Youth With A Mission – LDM, which was founded by the late Keith Green. An organization similar to a ‘Christian’ Peace Corp. At LDM he oversaw a staff of 110 and an organization whose impact was felt around the world. The reports of staff members who traveled to third-world countries, as well as his own travels outside the U.S., focused his interest on the plight of orphaned children living without hope. That interest spurred him on to start Heroes of the Nation. Sievright and his staff are planning Heroes of the Nation centers in Romania and Costa Rica, as well.
Heroes of the Nation invites compassionate individuals to join them as partners to impact the orphans of Africa. For more information, visit http://www.htn.org.
