PC-Doctor Announces Contract With IGT

Leading diagnostics company helps gaming machine manufacturer enhance assembly process and maintain quality.

Reno, NV (PRWEB) October 4, 2006 -- PC-Doctor, Inc. (www.pc-doctor.com), the global leader in reducing PC manufacturing, support, and service costs through diagnostic and system information solutions, today announced a contract with IGT, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of gaming machines and software systems. IGT will use PC-Doctor® Factory for DOS in the manufacturing and test engineering of systems used in a large portion of its gaming machines.

PC-Doctor Factory for DOS will test the Advanced Video Platform (AVP®) in the manufacturing process in order to intercept any defective or damaged boards before installation and shipping. In addition, IGT will use PC-Doctor Factory for DOS to verify faults in units that are rejected from the manufacturing line.

"The purchase of these customized PC-Doctor tools will aid tremendously in our Advanced Video Platform (AVP®) production,” said Ernie Baragar, IGT Staff Manufacturing Engineer. “With the PC-Doctor tool set, IGT expects to improve its process yields and output for the critical AVP® processor assemblies."

“IGT needed to turn a very manual process into a more efficient, less labor-intensive operation,” said Carol Roberts, senior product manager for PC-Doctor. “Defective or damaged boards were not being detected until well into the manufacturing process, which caused unnecessary work and manufacturing delays. PC-Doctor is working with IGT to improve its operations by providing industry-leading hardware diagnostics that are easily automated.”

PC-Doctor Factory for DOS allows licensees to run comprehensive diagnostics in a DOS environment and test components such as CPU, system board, RAM, and COM ports.

“This is our first contact with a gaming device manufacturer, a move beyond desktops, laptops and servers, to PC-type devices that are virtually part of all industries,” said Doug van Aman, chief marketing officer for PC-Doctor. “Our platform of diagnostics is well-equipped to work in many other aspects of the gaming industry, which is working in essentially a PC environment with strict legal and technical standards. We look forward to working with IGT, the undisputed leader in this category, a company coincidently located less than a mile from our Reno headquarters.”
