Pink Ribbon Couture Supports the Cause

Aiding in the fight for breast cancer, wedding gown designer, Therez Fleetwood, helps to raise money by offering custom made dresses designed with the survivors in mind.

(PRWEB) October 1, 2006 -- Aiding in the fight for breast cancer, wedding gown designer, Therez Fleetwood, helps to raise money by offering custom made dresses designed with the survivors in mind.

“After several women I knew were diagnosed with breast cancer, I began to wonder how I could help raise money towards this cause using my design talents. As a fashion designer specializing in wedding dresses, I wanted to design a dress that women around the world of various sizes, ages and races could relate to and wear with confidence.” - Therez Fleetwood

According to the American Cancer Society, Inc., Breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in women, exceeded only by lung cancer. The chance of developing invasive breast cancer at some time in a women’s life is about 1 in 8 (13% of women). Though breast cancer reaches all cultural and racial groups, women in North America have the highest rate of breast cancer in the world. Fortunately, death rates from breast cancer have been declining. Theses decreases are believed to be the result of early detection and improved treatments.

Therez was inspired to help raise money for breast cancer, when Sherrie, one of her clients who had undergone a mastectomy, asked to borrow a dress for a special event. She wanted something that would be comfortable, stylish and easy to wear. This beautiful woman usually avoided bare shoulders and sleeveless garments because she believed they called attention to her missing breast - a physical and emotional change to which she was still adjusting. Therez immediately thought about Zahara, a special dress in her couture collection. Zahara was perfect for Sherrie because its shawl attachment draped elegantly across her body, drawing attention away from her missing breast.

Named after the Arabic word for shiny and luminous, Zahara would ironically become a beacon of light to many women who need to regain their confidence. Because of its classic silhouette coupled with a unique blend of structure, elegance, earthiness and sensuality, the Zahara dress is perfect for all body types. This style fits easily into every woman’s wardrobe and is ideal for evening, after-five or special occasions.

PinkRibbonCouture.com offers the Zahara dress in a myriad of colors in 100% silk dupioni fabric. You can also choose to have the Zahara dress designed specifically to satisfy your unique style in your choice of color, fabric and trims. And for brides who are opting to wear a wedding gown that is classic, simple and elegant, Zahara is the perfect choice!
