Blu-Ray Duplicator from Microboards Shipping

The first Multi-Drive Blu-Ray system with both duplication and recording functionality began shipping today from Microboards Technology, LLC. Called CopyWriter Blu-Ray, the system will be used for recording and duplicating stored multimedia and data content.

(PRWEB) October 2, 2006 -- The first Multi-Drive Blu-Ray system with both duplication and recording functionality began shipping today from Microboards Technology, LLC. Called CopyWriter Blu-Ray, the system will be used for recording and duplicating stored multimedia and data content.

CopyWriter Blu-Ray systems can be used in a standalone mode for duplication, or can be connected to a PC or Mac via a USB 2.0 connection for accessing one of the Blu-Ray drives.

Besides traditional large data storage applications and video footage archival, Microboards Blu-Ray towers have garnered the interest of a wide range of industries, from video game developers to medical imaging and patient records.

The tower-style system can also record and duplicate DVD-R discs. "CopyWriter Blu-Ray is the most versatile Blu-Ray Recording and Duplication system available today," said John Westrum, vice president of operations and Chief Technology Officer at Microboards Technology.
The solution uses standard BD-R and BD-RE (rewritable) media, which are currently available with capacities of up to 25 GB. “It is amazing to be able to duplicate ten Blu-Ray discs in the time it takes to record one. This is a major time savings for developers of HD content.”

The list price for a ten-recorder system is set at $19,995, and the four-recorder system at $8,995. CopyWriter Blu-Ray records and duplicates at 2x speed, and requires a standard USB 2.0 interface for connection to a computer. It comes backed by Microboards’ industry-leading 2-year warranty.
