Officials from USJFCOM, DOD’s “transformation laboratory” join the WBC’s information exchange at the Town Point Club in Norfolk,VA on October 11th to discuss technology scouting and industry partnerships.

Celebrating a twenty year history of informative guest speakers from federal government agencies and facilitating targeted business networking, the Washington Breakfast Club will launch its Hampton Roads/Tidewater series next month at the Town Point Club in Norfolk. The inaugural event will feature an interactive discussion with representatives from U.S. Joint Forces Command (USJFCOM).

The Washington Breakfast Club (WBC) was founded in 1985 by Bob Salisbury who facilitated the first meeting in support of his client Unisys. Mr. Patrick Casey, then Vice President of Unisys, stated the goal of the meeting was to spawn teaming between attendees. That goal was adopted by the newly formed club and remains in effect today. Now, as part of The American Small Business Coalition (The ASBC), the WBC is leveraging its relationships to expand the delivery area for its style of federal sector team-building and outreach.

“We look forward to the launch of the WBC Hampton Roads/Tidewater next month and appreciate USJFCOM’s participation,” stated Guy Timberlake, CEO and Chief Visionary Officer of The American Small Business Coalition. “The WBC recently adopted the task of assisting government agencies in delivering their message to potential industry partners. This is aligned with The ASBC’s objectives of supporting industry and federal government agencies in achieving their organizational goals.”

U. S. Joint Forces Command (USJFCOM) is one of nine combatant commands in the Department of Defense, and the only combatant command focused on the transformation of U.S. military capabilities.

“As we’ve gotten more and more into the transformation mission of the command, we’ve realized that in order to achieve our mission, we need to partner with folks outside of the command, in particular large businesses, small businesses and universities. They’ve developed capabilities that can potentially assist us in our mission,” commented Dr. Russell Richards, Director of the US JFCOM Office of Research and Technology Applications (ORTA) during a recent interview on The ASBC’s FEDERALLY READY™ radio program.

U.S. Navy Captain Ray Rodriguez, Director of USJFCOM’s Business Management Office added, “Even though we provide oversight for the contractual support for all directorates and subordinate commands of Joint Forces Command, we’re also heavily involved with ORTA and the industry engagement teams. We look forward to participating in activities like the Washington Breakfast Club to further our ability to identify potential beneficial capabilities and technologies.”
