Medipacs LLC finalist in 2006 Governor's Celebration of Innovation

The Governor's Celebration of Innovation: Arizona's most prestigious technology awards event held annually to recognize excellence in Arizona 's technology industry is looking for outstanding companies and individuals that stand out above the rest.

Tucson, AZ (PRWEB) October 2, 2006 -- The Governor's Celebration of Innovation: Arizona's most prestigious technology awards event held annually to recognize excellence in Arizona 's technology industry is looking for outstanding companies and individuals that stand out above the rest.

The Arizona Technology council announced today that Medipacs LLC, a Tucson biotech company, has been selected for the second year in a row as a finalist for Innovator of the year-start up company.

This year Medipacs with SBIR grant funds from the US Army Medical Research Command successfully developed the first polymer gel pump system. This included the development of a new super elastic polymer hydro gel used for the pump actuators. The new polymer actuators are designed to operate on less than 3V of power making the Medipacs system the lowest energy consuming pump system today.

Medipacs has developed the first Digital Pump and is now focusing on its first commercial application, a programmable disposable infusion pump and drug delivery device. The Medipacs proprietary pump technology known as pulse activated cell systems, (PACS) uses electrically activated polymers in a computer controlled environment that eliminates the need for electric motors and pump mechanisms. The Medipacs application is for a market of over ONE MILLION INFUSIONS that happen every day in the United States .

The Master of Ceremonies , Governor Janet Napolitano , will honor this years finalists at Pointe South Mountain Resort in Phoenix on December 5, 2006 . “The finalists for this year’s Governor’s Celebration of Innovation are some of the most impressive we have seen in the four year history of the event. It is obvious that Arizona’s technology industry continues to thrive when we see the quality of companies that make their home in our great state,” said Kevin Margeson, Chairman of the Governor’s Celebration of Innovation event

The Governor's Celebration of Innovation is the largest statewide awards gathering of technology companies in Arizona . It delivers an insider look at emerging to established companies showing off cutting – edge innovations.

The Medipacs Device is not FDA approved and is in the research and development stage.
