Power in the Hood Coalition Continues Rosa Registration Days with Free Coney Dog Give-A-Way, Tuesday October 3, 2006
Power in the Hood Coalition, Rosa Registration Days Gives Away Free Coney Dogs to unregistered voters who register to vote.
Detroit, MI (PRWEB) October 2, 2006 -- Power In the Hood Coalition: Voter Education and Registration Campaign continues Rosa Registration Days with a Free Coney Dog Give-A-Way at various Coney Island Restaurants in Detroit starting at 10 am.
Power in the Hood will have volunteers stationed at each participating restaurant registering citizens to vote. The Coney Island locations will be officially announced on Monday October 2, 2006.
The Power in the Hood Coalition is an ongoing project of the Mary Church Terrell Council for Community Empowerment. The Power in the Hood Coalition is a get out the vote (GOTV) project that aims to educate and register eligible voters in Detroit.
“It is important that we register voters as a precaution since the voter file was recently cleansed said Rev. Charles Williams, president of the Mary Church Terrell Council for Community Empowerment. It is dually important because of low voter turnout during the primary.”
Rev. Charles E. Williams, II is founder and president of the Mary Church Terrell Council for Community Empowerment. Heavily involved in the Political arena, Rev. Williams has been fortunate to be mentored by some of Black America’s most influential social, political and Labor activists like Rev. Al Sharpton, Rev. Jesse Jackson and Bill Lucy.
Brian H. White is the Chair of the Power in the Hood Coalition. Mr. White is a member of MCT’s Executive Council. He is also the Legislative Director for Michigan NAACP State Conference.
Community organizations, leaders, activists, and the public are encouraged to participate in this effort to honor the legacy of Rosa Parks in the spirit of activism through voter education & registration.
