St. Johns River City Band Names New Executive Director
Diantha H. Grant is the new executive director of the St. Johns River City Band.
Jacksonville, FL (PRWEB) October 4, 2006 -- Diantha H. Grant is the new executive director of the St. Johns River City Band. The announcement of her appointment to the band's top administrative post was made by Elizabeth W.Reichert, president of the band's board of directors.
Grant, who spent the past eight years as regional director of the Alzheimer's Association Central & North Florida Chapter, assumes her band responsibilities on Oct. 2. She is a non-profit executive with more than 17 years combined experience in community relations and development, program planning and non-profit management.
The announcement of Grant's new position was made during the band's 14th annual "Taste the Music and Dance" fund-raising event in the Aetna Building on Jacksonville's Southbank.
The band's executive director and music director roles had been merged for about three years under Michael J. Davis, who came to the band in 2002 after retiring as music director of the Disney theme parks worldwide. Davis, who lobbied for the change, will now be able to devote his full time and attention to the band's music, Reichert told the audience in the Aetna Building.
"The band's board of directors is excited about these changes," Reichert told the crowd. "With Diantha's energy and leadership plus Mike's desire to concentrate on the music, we see a new era for the St. Johns River City Band."
Prior to joining the Alzheimer's Association, Grant spent about five years as vice president of community relations for Hospice By The Sea in Boca Raton. She is a former educator with 10 years of full-time, university-based teaching and curriculum development. She is active in the Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce and is a member and past president of the East Arlington Rotary Club.
