Touch User Interface (TUI) Technology and its Potential Literacy Implications Published

According to Mott and Benus, “Numerous research studies support the supplementary use of visual/video and audio adjunct elements to support students’ learning of content. Despite these improvements a major dilemma remains: How can text seamlessly intertwine with digital content? Separately packaged video, audio and computer programs fail to connect a reader immediately to digital content during the actual text- based reading process. One possible technological solution to this problem is Touch-User-Interface (TUI) paper-to-digital content books.
The Touch User Interface (TUI) is a convergence technology that enables the reader of normally printed materials to touch the page and retrieve digital content or launch communication applications on a computer. The TUI is an open technology for print and digital content publishing companies. It enables publishers to create interactive digital and print hybrid workbooks, texts, and supplements. The TUI currently can retrieve content and launch communication applications via a computer.
Jason E.
