Norbert Young, President of McGraw-Hill Construction, to Deliver Keynote Address at e-Builder’s Annual User Conference

Norbert Young will share his insights on technology trends and challenges facing the construction industry based on McGraw-Hill’s recent research on market conditions, trends, and leaders within the construction industry.

Ft. Lauderdale, FL (PRWEB) October 4, 2006 -- e-Builder, a leader in web-based project and document management solutions for the AEC industry, announced today that Norbert Young, President of McGraw Hill Construction, will return as keynote speaker at this year’s e-Builder User Conference November 1-3. This year’s conference, to be held at the Mayfair Hotel and Spa in Coconut Grove, Florida, will host key construction industry professionals. Mr. Young’s address will focus on emerging technology trends impacting the construction industry, and how these changes are affecting the industry as a whole.

At last year’s User Conference, Mr. Young shared his insights on technology interoperability, discussing the way that new and emerging technologies can make the construction process more manageable and efficient. His findings concluded that lack of interoperability in the US capital facilities industry were costing construction firms $15.8 billion dollars per year. Also discussed were the existing opportunities for improvement, based on owners working in a collaborative environment where organizations share information and make virtual design the norm within the construction industry.

This year, Mr. Young will elaborate on McGraw-Hill’s recent research on market conditions, trends, and leaders within the construction industry. This data will provide attendees with a snapshot of challenges facing the industry and viable solutions, along with construction trends, innovations, sustainability/green construction, and the future of the industry as a whole.

Norbert Young joined The McGraw-Hill Companies in December 1997 as vice president, editorial, for Dodge. He holds a Master’s of Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania and a BA from Bowdoin College, Brunswick, Maine. His professional affiliations include membership in the Urban Land Institute, the Construction Specification Institute and the International Alliance for Interoperability, where he serves as Chairman of the IAI-NA Board of Directors. He is also a committee member of the Construction Users Roundtable, and sits on the boards of the Salvadori Center for Education and the Built Environment and the Civil Engineering Research Foundation. He is a Fellow of The American Institute of Architects and in 2005 he received the Edward C. Kemper Award from the AIA for outstanding service to the profession of architecture.
