TAGSYS, the global leader in item-level RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) infrastructure, today announced that Michael Ohanian has joined TAGSYS’ Board of Directors. A 40-year veteran of the electronics and technology industries, Ohanian is a recognized leader in the RFID community.
As President of Intermec Technologies from 1995 to 2000, a global supplier of barcode and RFID products and services for the industrial, retail and government markets, Ohanian defined and built the RFID business for Intermec. During his tenure there, he acquired IBM’s RFID intellectual property and design/development team, allowing Intermec to enter the nascent market.

Previously, Ohanian was also Senior Vice President of Unova, the parent company of Intermec. He is currently an active member of Automatic Identification Data Collection 100 (ADIC 100) and from 1997-1999, he was on the Board of Directors of AIM Global (Automatic Identification Manufacturers) Trade Association.

Ohanian also consults for several universities who are planning RFID courses of study. Currently, he is establishing an RFID curriculum and hands-on training laboratory at Merrimack College in North Andover, MA.
