Presidential Candidate Imperato Sends Condolences to Vietnam and the Philippines

Sweeping through the central coast of Vietnam and the Philippines this weekend, the violent winds and rain of Typhoon Xangsane caused the deaths of at least 120 people in the Philippines and Vietnam and left tens of thousands homeless.

West Palm Beach, FL (PRWEB) October 5, 2006 -- After learning of the tragedy, 2008 Presidential Candidate Daniel Imperato (www.daniel2008.com) offered his condolences to the people of the Philippines and Vietnam.

“My heartfelt sympathies go out the people of Vietnam and The Philippines that have been affected by Typhoon Xangsane. I know that the families have a lot of rebuilding to do in the midst of tremendous pain and I will pray that they will have the strength to rebuild, stabilize, and move forward.”

An official at the Danang Flood and Storm Control Committee has stated that more than 220,000 houses were damaged including 6,256 which have collapsed, and almost 41,000 were still submerged. They have estimated storm damage at nearly five trillion dong, over three hundred million US dollars.

Imperato would like the Filipino and Vietnamese people to know that in this time of tragedy he has also reached out to Presidents Arroyo and Anh to show strength for their countries. The city has distributed relief of VND41 billion ($2.5 million) in cash, 1,000 tons of rice, and 1 million packs of instant noodles to victims.

“I would like the affected Filipino and Vietnamese people to know that they can count on my full support. In this time of tragedy, I call on Presidents Gloria Macapagal Arroyo of the Philippines and Le Duc Anh of Vietnam, to support the people who have been devastated and guide them in the rebuilding process.” stated Imperato.
