Psychologists Launch 'Success Boot Camp'

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) October 5, 2006 -- First, boot camps were just for the military. Then health clubs started offering fitness boots camps for people serious about getting in shape. Now, two leading psychologists are taking the concept a step further with a science-based “Success Boot Camp.”
Dr. Stephen Kraus and Caroline Adams Miller are launching their inaugural Success Boot Camp October 2nd. The ten-week, telephone-based program is attracting members from all over the world, using a combination of life coaching, group support, and training in behavioral science-based techniques for success and happiness.
Kraus and Miller are experts in positive psychology, the scientific study of happy, successful people. Since the field was officially “named” in 2000, it has become one of the fastest growing fields in the social sciences.
But Miller points out: “Despite the growing body of research, there are few training programs that help people apply these techniques to improve their everyday lives. We’re filling that void. ‘Boot camp’ is a great metaphor for this program because it denotes an intensive period of study and training that ultimately transforms an individual, and that’s what we’re all about.”
Kraus is an author who has been called a combination of Tony Robbins and Mr. Spock for his science-based approach to the psychology of success. He’s perhaps best known for debunking what he calls “self-help snake oil” and unmasking “self-improvement urban legends.” And he’s a stickler for ensuring there’s a scientific basis to Success Boot Camp.
“There’s a wealth of published studies available now about what happy, successful people do differently in life. But little of this research makes it way into mainstream self-help books or coaching programs. We’re changing that. We’re using scientific rigor to bring a new level of depth and sophistication to success training and coaching.”
Success Boot Camp features science-based training and exercises on topics such as goal-setting, enhancing confidence, dealing with setbacks, and the science of making lasting life changes.
Success Boot Camp costs $695, and includes a collection of science-based, success-focused books and audio programs. Kraus and Miller are also offering full scholarships to a select group of people who have exhibited extraordinary resilience in life.
Stephen Kraus has a Ph.D. in social psychology from Harvard University, and is author of the “scientific self-help book” Psychological Foundations of Success: A Harvard-Trained Scientist Separates the Science of Success from Self-Help Snake Oil.
Caroline Adams Miller is a best-selling author whose work has been featured in the media for decades. She is one of the first people to receive a Masters degree in Applied Positive Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania, and will be featured on channel 155 on XM Radio this fall.
