FOLLIA an originally commissioned artwork from New York City, by lower east side artist Damien Grey. Mr. Grey's Variations on La Follia (after Veronese ) is a massive work of 4 interconnected oil on wood panels. Diameter's are 8' by 16'. It covers the main entry wall of the café.
BACKSTAGE newspaper in its critical comments decried that it was not possible to fully appreciate the work when it was used as part of Francesco Cenci's inner sanctum in THE CENCI. Panels from Mr. Grey's work have been seen in William Butler Yeats' PURGATORY, and John J. Trause's LATTER-DAY LITANY at the Morris Museum Bickford Theatre in 2004 and 2006.
Now broken in-half as a new variant for Carnevale, and fully reassembled on opposite walls, for the first time, it remains on stunning view at Il Trapezio. Serious bids will be accepted for purchase of the 4 panels beginning at $2,500 complete.
Arts PR unlimited is a sponsored program at The Field, Inc. La Follia is the opening chapter in the Newark/Italy cultural exchange project for 2008-2010.
