Noted Animal/Pet Author, Devon O'Day Joins Dove Award Winning Songwriter, Kim McLean for "Goodbye My Friend: Celebrating the Memory of A Pet" from Rutledge Hill Press

A sentimental keepsake of life-celebration that offers comfort and peace to the pet-lover mourning loss, this book/cd/picture frame allows authentic text and beautiful music to guide people through the journey of pet-grief.

(PRWEB) October 6, 2006 -- “Goodbye My Friend: Celebrating The Memory of A Pet” is a new gift book from Rutledge Hill Press, the same company that created NYT Bestseller “I Hope You Dance” and “Live Like You Are Dying” among others. Their unique capture of emotional subjects in text, song, and design have taken a new turn with their latest project which enlists author, Devon O’Day (My Angels Wear Fur) and Dove Award winning songwriter, Kim McLean for a book that comforts the pet-lover in times of loss.

A gift book for times when ‘there are no words’, “Goodbye My Friend: Celebrating the Memory of a Pet”, will show empathy while offering help through the stages of grief. As the first page begins, one can read through denial, bargaining, anger, sorrow/sadness, and resolution/hope as the music guides the reader through the emotional journey. Based upon personal experience, Devon O’Day and Kim McLean drew from their own feelings of loss through years of animal placement, adoption, and fostering, to create a commemorative keepsake for the memory of a dog, cat, or horse that has crossed “The Rainbow Bridge”.

Kim McLean chose to record her four original songs at Rhythm Rascal Studios in Nashville, with the engineering prowess of Joe Johnston. Genre-less and moving, the songs of “Goodbye My Friend: Celebrating the Memory of A Pet” are uplifting and allow for a healthy release of emotion with every note.

Devon O’Day channeled the years of emotion from the countless letters she received from pet lovers who’d experienced loss, to create a therapeutic text that is real, honest, and sometimes, even funny.

In deciding on a cover for the project, O’Day and McLean felt it paramount that there be a place for the recipient of the gift, to put a picture of their own pet. Much to their surprise, at the same time as they were having the ‘picture frame’ idea, the gifted designers at Rutledge Hill Press were thinking exactly the same thing, So, in February 2007, a lovely cover/picture frame with warm fall colors will hit bookstore shelves with the title, “Goodbye My Friend: Celebrating the Memory of a Pet”. For friends and family of pet-lovers who are dealing with loss, for veterinarians who deal with pet loss and patients daily, and for people who’d simply love to remember their pet in a special way, “Goodbye My Friend: Celebrating the Memory of a Pet” by Devon O’Day and music by Kim McLean can be pre-ordered today at www.Amazon.com .
