City of San Diego Wants Schottenheimer Gone
Fans of the San Diego Chargers are fed up with Coach Schottenheimer and they want him gone. Fireschottenheimer.com is dedicated to that cause.
San Diego, CA (PRWEB) October 6, 2006 -- Residents of "America's Finest City" aren't feeling so fine this week after the depressing 16-13 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in their Week 4 matchup. Most fans and national media blame the loss on the return of Martyball, a strategy belong to Coach Schottenheimer.
Martyball refers to executing a series of running plays repeatedly in order to take time off the clock and preserve your victory. What most fans know is that Martyball is only effective when you have a huge lead, such as the Chargers' Week 1 contest against the Raiders when they jumped out to an early lead.
"Martyball doesn't work if you are only winning by six points" says Irwin M. Fletcher, spokesman for Fire Schottenheimer. "You can't play ultra-conservative and stop scoring when you aren't even up by a touchdown."
Because Coach Schottenheimer elected to abandon the passing game, the Chargers failed to score in the second half and eventually lost their lead in the final minutes. Most fans saw this as the ultimate indication that Martyball does not work.
