provide more room for intuitive business information -- the kind we don't cite in business reports, but that counts when you're dealing with humans, not just products.

Jory Des Jardins believes that the power of blogging for businesses lies in their ability to "provide more room for intuitive business information -- the kind we don't cite in business reports, but that counts when you're dealing with humans, not just products."
Des Jardins has been in the people business for some time -- she first learned about blogging while working for an executive development firm--and she's seen blogging change the industries she's been working in. After she left the executive development firm to write and consult full time, she wound up setting up a blog for them.
Ultimately, Des Jardins stresses that businesses can't close their eyes to social media. "Companies, whether they decide to wholeheartedly embrace social media as a communications strategy, or monitor it for a while, can no longer opt to ignore it."
Des Jardins will share her insights about getting small businesses into the blogosphere at the Blog Business Summit this October.
The three day event will include a one day introductory overview of the essentials of business blogging, followed by two days of intensive exploration and discussion of businesses in the blogosphere with today's most influential bloggers. Session topics include how to monitor what the bloggers are saying about your business, how to start your own blog and ways to promote your blog for maximum exposure.
Event speakers include such business blogosphere luminaries as Ben Edwards who is IBM's head of New Media Communications and Weblogs, Inc. CEO Jason Calacanis.
