Gilbarco Veeder-Root Unveils New System to Prevent Fuel Leaks

Gilbarco Veeder-Root announced today its new Guardian Leak Prevention System, which offers the highest level of ground watre protection available and is the only actively monitored tank-to-dispenser fuel containment system on the market.

Greensboro, NC (PRWEB) October 7, 2006 -- Gilbarco Veeder-Root announced today its new Guardian™ Leak Prevention System, which offers the highest level of ground water protection available and is the only actively monitored tank-to-dispenser fuel containment system on the market.

The new Guardian Leak Prevention System provides Class 1 leak detection and containment in a complete system, something never before available in the industry. Guardian offers a simplified system designed to detect and contain leaks before they enter the environment to a degree never before seen in the petroleum equipment market.

Each year, fuel retailers are faced with the potential of catastrophic risk from environmental contamination. Current systems to combat this risk have historically led to increased ownership costs via installation and maintenance, and they lack continuous monitoring designed to catch a leak before it results in costly remediation. To date, a complete product solution has not existed that includes the dispenser, fuel path, and submersible turbine pump (STP.) Instead, customers have relied on multiple suppliers for various system components, but never before with this new level of protection.

“Our customers tell us that they are concerned about protecting their significant assets in brand and land, and Guardian allows them to take substantial steps in protecting their business investment, as well as our environment,” said Richard Browne, vice president of Service Station Equipment Marketing at Gilbarco Veeder-Root.

The Guardian Leak Prevention System provides the highest level of ground water protection by creating new secondary containment spaces around vulnerable leak points. By providing continuous vacuum monitoring capability from the tank interface to the dispenser, the system monitors the STP, product piping, and the new shear valve for any seepage.

“Because this new system is designed to detect leaks before they enter the environment, the benefits to our customers include lower risk of contamination, as well as increased safety, reduced costs and increased uptime, all of which lead to greater profitability,” added Browne.

The Guardian Leak Prevention System will be on display at the NACS Show in Las Vegas, October 9-11, in the Gilbarco Veeder-Root booth #4345.

Editor’s Note: Stories about leaks in existing systems are not infrequent. For more information on recent coverage, please contact Lucy Sackett, Gilbarco Veeder-Root Marketing Communications Manager.
