Orthodogs’ Silver Lining Foundation (OSLF), a 501(c)(3) non-profit, announces the First Annual OSLF Photo Contest with five designated categories of competition. The OSLF contest is an invitation for dog lovers all over the world to enter their favorite dog pictures in each category, competing for Dog-of-the-Month positions in the 2007 OSLF Calendar. Contest entrants will also be entered to win various prizes and to have their dog photos displayed in an OSLF on-line gallery.
Photos will be accepted in the following five categories: Comical Canines, Canine Athletes, Puppies, Dogs & Friends and Candid Canines. There is no limit on the number of entries from each household and there can be multiple entries in each category. All entry fees will go to fund the “Pets in Need” dogs that are sponsored by the all-volunteer foundation. Dogs currently listed include Samson, a sweet 8-month old Shar Pei who was turned over to a shelter because the owner couldn’t afford his surgery and Cinderella, a beautiful black Chihuahua mix who suffered extensive injuries when hit by a car.
“OSLF is first and foremost a foundation of and for dog lovers,” said Wendy Stevens, co-founder and OSLF webmaster. “This contest is going to be a great opportunity for us to admire pictures of all the wonderful dogs that are out there -- something we love to do. At the same time, we will be helping achieve the Foundation’s goal of aiding rescuers and dog owners get the funds for their dogs in need -- dogs who otherwise might be destined to suffer for the rest of their lives.”
The contest entry photos must be the camera work of the entrant and may be in color or black and white. The contest is limited to photos of dogs unless being submitted for the “Dogs & Friends” category. All entries are to be received by October 31, 2006. “Last year’s ‘Just Labs’ and ‘Just Puppies’ OSLF calendars were very popular,” said Paola Ferraris and Brenda Osbourne, the two other Foundation co-founders. “We expect the photos from the mix of categories and a variety of breeds to make this 2007 Calendar a pleasure to have on your wall with each month’s calendar dog a hit.”
The 2007 OSLF Calendar of Dogs will be available for sale later this year at the OSLF Cafepress store (http://www.cafepress.com/oslf).
