Moses to Speak at Foothills CROP Walk

Masai warrior named Moses Ole Sakuda will speak at an event that has come to be a tradition in Jefferson County, Colorado: The Foothills CROP Walk. This year it occurs on Sunday, October 15, 1–3 P.M. As usual, the walk is 5K around Clement Park, Littleton.

Littleton, CO (PRWEB) October 8, 2006 -- Moses Ole Sakuda, will entertain a crowd of hundreds with his stories of Africa at the Foothills CROP Walk, October 15, 2006, 1--3 P.M. in Clement Park, Littleton, and he will join walkers as they trek 5K around the park. Sakuda will also speak prior to the walk at Abiding Hope Lutheran Church at Simms St. and Coal Mine Ave at 9:30 A.M.

A Masai from Kenya, Sakuda is a key member of the Church World Service (CWS) management team (CROP Walk money goes to work through CWS) coordinating the multi-programmatic work of the global humanitarian agency¹s Africa Initiative. He also co-chairs the CWS Africa Team in coordinating CWS various programs in the continent.

It is the 60th birthday of CWS this year. The international humanitarian agency and cooperative ministry of 35 Protestant, Orthodox, and Anglican denominations and communions provides sustainable self-help and development, disaster relief, and refugee assistance in some 80 countries including the U.S.

The organization's CROP walks started in the 1960s, and may well have been the first of the many fundraising walks we see in America today. Today there are some 2,000 walks around the U.S. annually, raising about $16 million for needy people worldwide.

Twenty five percent of the money raised at the Foothills CROP Walk this year will go to work right in Colorado through Metro Food Bank, Denver Inner City Parish, Jeffco Action Center, and Interfaith Community Services.
