Anchor Software Releases Mail.dat® Viewer; View.Dat Offers Low-Cost Alternative to Higher-Priced Editors

View.Dat also produces numerous reports including the United States Postal Service® (USPS®) postage statements and qualification reports.
Plano, TX (PRWEB) October 12, 2006 -- Anchor Software, LLC, a leading provider of data processing software for data quality, direct marketing and document design, today announced the release of View.Dat, a low-cost software solution for users who wish to view and validate Mail.dat files that are created during the process of presorting mailing lists for postal discounts. View.Dat also produces numerous reports including the United States Postal Service® (USPS®) postage statements and qualification reports.
Mail.dat is widely accepted as the mailing industry standard for manipulating and sharing postal presort data. Mail.dat files are created during the presort process either by presort software processing name-and-address lists or by co-mingling equipment, which sort already assembled mailing pieces. These files contain detailed information about each presorted mailing, and, in turn, are accepted by the USPS.
Anchor’s plan is to have its View.Dat product fill a void in the market by providing basic Mail.dat viewing and validating and report printing at significantly less cost than editors that provide features that may not be needed by all mailers.
View.Dat offers users two ways to view their Mail.dat files: a basic, raw view of their data, and an associative view of the data from the highest-level containers down to the individual pieces. View.Dat also offers file validation at three levels: basic, IDEAlliance® and PostalOne!® compliant.
View.Dat postage statements have been approved by the USPS under its National Approval for Postage Statements program. View.Dat also allows the user to print other reports required by the USPS including the Qualification Reports, container tags, pallet summaries and PS-8125 forms. Among the operational reports produced by View.Dat are postage summary reports and container statistics reports.
