Vendavo, the leading provider of price management software, today announced the appointment of Jim Blaisdell, Ph.D., to the position of Chief Technical Officer (CTO). Dr. Blaisdell’s technology career spans more than 25 years as a high tech company executive, entrepreneur, professor and author. Most recently he served as Principal Architect for Business Operations at Xilinx, a worldwide leader in complete programmable logic solutions. He assumes the CTO position, previously held by Marc Brown, Ph.D., who will continue to serve as an advisor to the company. Dr. Blaisdell reports directly to Alan Crites, Vendavo’s president and chief executive officer.

Prior to joining Vendavo, Dr. Blaisdell spent ten years at Xilinx, initially managing all of the company’s customer-facing systems. He served as Principal Technologist in the company’s Worldwide Information Technology organization, and most recently as Principal Architect for Business Operations, a role in which he was responsible for product management and pricing processes and systems.
Previously Dr. Blaisdell spent fifteen years as a professor at Humboldt State University, teaching courses that ranged from database design to artificial intelligence. He is Professor Emeritus of Computer Information Systems and Computing Science. Throughout his academic career, he published and conducted research for NASA and the Office of Naval Technology, served on a National Science Foundation panel and was the Principal Investigator on four research grants from NASA.
In 1991, Dr. Blaisdell co-founded and served as president of Meta Systems, a consulting firm that delivered enterprise software and services to global organizations. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of Georgia, and an M.B.A. and Ph.D. degree from The University of Maryland.
