Harlem Wizards Take on Good Samaritan Hospital All-Stars on November 18

6th Annual Benefit Game Set for 7 p.m. at Suffern High School.

Suffern, NY (PRWEB) October 11, 2006 -- The Harlem Wizards professional entertainment basketball team will perform in Suffern on Saturday, November 18 at 7 p.m. at Suffern High School. The appearance will include a game against the Good Samaritan Hospital All-Stars, chosen from the hospital’s staff. The performance promises family fun for all, and will include comedy, basketball tricks and audience participation.

Wizard team members include former NBA and CBA players, and college standouts. Team members specialize in “trick hoops and alley-oops,” including comic antics, trickery, dazzling ball handling and rim rocking slam-dunks. The Wizards will sign autographs after the performance.

As part of the Wizards dynamic appearance, select Wizard players will visit Good Samaritan Hospital on November 2 to support the event. The players will tour the hospital and meet with and sign autographs for a number of patients. In addition, Wizard players will appear at the Palisades Mall to show off their skills, sign autographs, and promote the game.

The Harlem Wizards was founded in 1962 by New York-based sports promoter and manager Howie Davis. The team has delighted audiences worldwide, and has played in more than 5,000 games in the United States and abroad.

Tickets are available for advance purchase at $12 for adults and $10 for students or seniors by phoning (845) 368-5214. Tickets are available at the door at $14 for adults and $12 for students or seniors. The event will benefit Good Samaritan’s Chemical Dependency Unit.

The Chemical Dependency Unit, an inpatient unit designed for patients with alcohol and substance abuse problems, provides inpatient detoxification and rehabilitation treatment for those in need. Licensed and certified by the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services, the Chemical Dependency Unit is also accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). Thanks to the staggering community participation, the Harlem Wizards benefit event will once again play a key role in the aid and support of this important cause.

Good Samaritan Hospital is part of the Bon Secours Charity Health System, which also includes St. Anthony Community Hospital in Warwick, NY and Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis, NY. Additionally, Bon Secours Charity Health System provides the services of a Certified Home Health Agency, two long-term care facilities, an assisted living and adult home facility and several other medical programs.
