Fairfax, VA (PRWEB) October 17, 2006 -- The Department of Homeland Security has awarded a contract to Trident Systems Inc. - www.tridsys.com - to develop advanced capabilities in the capture, dissemination, and analysis of airborne remote sensor data to support emergency assessment and recovery operations. Rapid response is paramount in minimizing the damage to people, property, and national security in the event of natural disaster or terrorist attack. There are a variety of high-resolution airborne sensor platforms that can provide valuable multi-spectral imagery data of affected areas, along with emerging communications technologies to distribute this data, if only it can be done in a manner that allows global, yet secure, access.
To fill this requirement, Trident Systems - www.tridsys.com - is leveraging its extensive experience in image/data/voice communications to develop the Situational Awareness For Emergency Response (SAFER) System which will integrate a real-time airborne remote sensor data distribution capability with other types of situational awareness information for use by emergency operations personnel in real-time disaster assessment and recovery. The SAFER System will be implemented in a manner that allows rapid deployment, configuration, and operation to support first responders in emergency situations.
The Science & Technology Directorate of the Homeland Security Advanced Research Projects Agency (HSARPA S&T) will be overseeing the 6-month effort.
