Grand Canyon.com Completes First Grand Canyon Travel Survey
Poll results reaffirm old facts, reveal new thinking about Grand Canyon vacations.
Page, AZ (PRWEB) October 12, 2006 -- Like the Grand Canyon itself, GrandCanyon.com’s inaugural Grand Canyon travel survey reinforced some things that were already known, and offered up a few surprises as well.
Out of 115 people polled anonymously on the company’s website regarding what time of year they would be taking a Grand Canyon vacation, 43% said “fall.” This makes perfect sense, according to GrandCanyon.com’s president, Karlyn Bunting, who says that “the majority of people who visit Grand Canyon National Park tend to plan their trip a few weeks, maybe a month in advance at the most.”
20% of respondents said they were “curious what time of year was best” to visit, indicating that they were in a position to pick and choose when to take their Grand Canyon trips. For those individuals, Karlyn has all kinds of suggestions. “If you have a choice of when to visit the Grand Canyon, pick early Autumn or late Spring. Those times of year are the best in terms of weather and crowds, or lack of the latter.”
Another result worthy of note was the level of interest in visiting the Grand Canyon in winter. 16% of those surveyed said they planned to tour the area during what is traditionally its quietest and coldest time of year. Karlyn says, “Winter can be a great time to see the Grand Canyon. It’s beautiful by itself, but with a blanket of snow on it, it’s stunning. Snow or no snow, it’s cold, so pack warm clothing and a sturdy pair of shoes. Also, keep a little ‘wiggle room’ in your schedule in case you do get delayed or detoured by bad weather.”
During the winter travel period (from November 1st through March 1st), many Grand Canyon hotels will reduce their rates, giving travelers yet another incentive to visit the popular Northern Arizona park in the off-season. Karlyn does caution, though, that “Thanksgiving and Christmas are just as busy as summertime, so absolutely make advance reservations for Grand Canyon lodging during those holidays.”
